In 2018, we established a new facility specifically dedicated to the production of thermoformed trays and lids for the food sector. This new production division, SERIPLAST FOOD, has achieved BRC certification, which ensures the quality and safety of the food packaging we produce, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with regulations governing the agri-food sector. The new structure is also designed to be eco-friendly, utilizing photovoltaic panels and an innovative low-impact air conditioning system.

All because of a music box The story of an adventure that continues for 50 years "We have managed to create a company that has combined steady growth with strong local roots and a broad vision."
1968
50 years of activity
Seriplast was officially founded in 1968, but the roots of this entrepreneurial adventure can be found in the restlessness of a young man born in 1943, who lived fully in the proverbial 60s. He chose to leave Italy and the few certainties he had to seek better fortune (or perhaps freedom) in Switzerland, where, while working as a waiter, he began importing music boxes from Switzerland. Bruno Bocconi “discovered” the thermoforming system by seeing how the ‘bases’ (the plastic support base on which the music boxes were fixed) were produced and saw the vast creative and usage possibilities.
1971
New Partners
The first thermoforming workshop was opened in Florence. There was an immediate need to involve other people in this venture, and between 1968 and 1973 Bocconi involved lifelong friends such as Giampietro Corsini and Italo Zoppi. With Italo’s entry, the company saw a new organizational boost. In 1971, the move to Ronta took place, where products were made for the silverware, toy, and Christmas item sectors.
1977
Florence
In 1977, production moved again to Florence, to a larger environment. These were years in which Italo Zoppi, every day, with the company van, transported employees from Ronta to Florence, then took them back to the village at the end of the shift; a free canteen was also established, which was not a given at the time for a small company.
1990
Growth
In 1985, Italo’s son Stefano also joined the company. The following year, the first production unit was opened in Barberino di Mugello. A constant and linear growth that was tested in 1990 by Italo’s premature death. Thanks to the experience gained working alongside his father, Stefano Zoppi was able to take over his role and subsequently reunify the entire production part of the company at the Barberino site.
1977
Clients
In 1997, Bruno’s son Lorenzo also joined Seriplast, consolidating the company’s structure: Stefano Zoppi, responsible for purchasing, work planning, personnel, Lorenzo Bocconi responsible for sales. Today’s story is that of a company that, from Mugello, manages to communicate with the world. The most well-known clients are Fca (Fiat, Chrysler Automotive), Continental, Gucci, Fila, Manetti & Roberts, Colgate Palmolive, and many others.
2014
Brazil
In 2014, a new production unit was opened in Brazil, Smartpack Ltd. Here, a support service is provided with the production of specific packaging for the automotive sector. Meanwhile, the Mugello production site underwent significant redevelopment work, creating new production spaces.
2017
Affirmation
In 2017, a new unit of about 3,000 square meters was acquired and renovated, equipping it with photovoltaic panels and an eco-sustainable environment thermoregulation system. Here, the new Seriplast Food division was established, dedicated to the production of trays and other specific products for the sector, which obtained BRC certification (a global standard specific to food product safety) demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with regulations governing the agri-food sector.
2025
Today
As of today, Seriplast operates on a covered area of 7,500 square meters plus yards, with 14 active production lines and 25 workers employed.
And to think that in the end, it was all the fault of a music box…
